When Skoda launched the Kushaq in India in 2021, it was considered a strong entry, especially for those who wanted a premium, European-feel compact SUV. But it has not received a major update for many years. Now, Skoda is preparing to give this vehicle an updated facelift in 2026, and recently, its testing model was spotted on the roads.
New design and updated styling
This time, the Skoda Kushaq is going to get not just a light cosmetic touch-up but a new design. The company will now bring its ‘Modern Solid’ design language, which was first introduced in the Kylaq SUV, to the Kushaq as well. This design will be seen in many Skoda vehicles in the coming years.

During testing, the changes in the front and rear of the car were visible, from which it can be guessed that changes will not be only on the bumper or grille.

A major upgrade in technology
This time in the Kushak facelift, there are tremendous improvements in terms of technology. ADAS sensors have also been added to the new model, but it is currently doubtful whether these features will come in the Indian model or not.
Apart from this, Skoda can also offer a 360-degree camera, better-connected car technology and smart features in it, so that it can remain in the competition. If seen, in terms of technology, the company is now moving out of its old image and moving towards a smart and premium user experience.

Engine options
There will be no major change in the engine in the facelifted Kushak, but there will be no compromise on performance either. It will again get the same 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine, which generates 120 HP and 178 NM torque. Also, a 1.5-litre turbo 4-cylinder engine will be available which gives 148 HP and 250 NM torque.
Talking about gearbox options, till now only 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions have been available, but it is likely that now more variety will be added to it, which will further increase its driving flexibility.

The compact SUV segment in India has probably never been as competitive as it is today. Vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon and Mahindra 3XO are already ruling this segment. Especially in terms of technology and innovation, these vehicles have gone far ahead of Kushak.

In fact, Kushak was launched at a time when the SUV market was starting its new era, so some important modern features were not available in its first generation. Now through the facelift, Skoda not only wants to fill this gap, but also wants to strengthen its hold in this segment once again.
What to expect in the coming times?
For now, it is clear from the testing model that Skoda is coming into the field with full preparation this time. This facelift is not just a design change but is part of a complete strategic approach.
if Skoda Kushak is getting a facelift, then obviously the company’s sub brand Volkswagen also may Launch the facelift version of Taigun.
If you are looking for an SUV that offers a balance of great performance, premium looks and smart features – then the facelifted version of the Skoda Kushak can become a great option for you in 2026.
