BYD Auto Mexico has officially announced that the BYD M9, a plug-in hybrid minivan, will be launched in Mexico on June 26, 2025. This model is the global version of the BYD Xia, which was earlier introduced in China on January 8, 2025, at a starting price of ₹2,30,000 (approx. $34,750).

According to the company, the M9 is designed for families and offers a mixed driving range of 945 km, a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 8.1 seconds, and NEDC-rated fuel efficiency of 17.8 km/l (5.9 L/100 km). It also supports fast charging that charges the battery from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, as stated on the official BYD Mexico website.

BYD M9 minivan Follow the company’s signature pattern style Known as ‘Loong Face’ (Dragon Face). This vehicle features a large grille at the front along with beautiful chrome accents and attractive headlights. At the rear, there is full-width taillights that gives stylish and modern look. Also, there is a roof spoiler on top, which enhances its look.

Inside, the M9 features a seven-seat (2+2+3) layout with premium comfort. The cabin includes a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, two 12.3-inch displays (for the instrument cluster and front passenger), folding tray tables, a cooling and heated storage box, and a ceiling-mounted entertainment monitor.

The vehicle is equipped with a hybrid system that BYD calls DM 5.0. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces around 154 horsepower, and is accompanied by a powerful electric motor that produces around 268 horsepower.

As per the Report of China EV DataTracker, BYD has already sold 14,962 units of the Xia in China from January to May in 2025. BYD has already exported 500 units of the M9, according to a report by Chinese blogger Xiaodi Kuaibao.
