Chinese car company Chery’s upcoming plug-in hybrid sedan Fulwin A9L has created a huge stir in the market before its launch. According to Chery, this car was first showcased at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April and since then it has received 51,971 pre-orders. Its official launch will be on July 8 in China.

Now talking about its design, this vehicle is no less than a sports car not only in looks but also in performance. According to the company, the 320 unit LED through taillight given in its rear gives it a premium look, while the active rear wing which generates 425N downforce at high speed gives it tremendous stability even on the highway. This wing automatically rises at 90 km/h and folds at 110 km/h.
Talking about the color option, the car will come in 6 color options – red, green, purple, silver, gray and black. At the same time, 88% high-strength steel and aluminium alloy have been used to strengthen the body frame. Chery has said that its dimensions are also quite large – length 5018mm, width 1965mm, and wheelbase 3000mm, but still its turning radius is only 5.95 meters. The FWD version weighs 2085kg and AWD 2230kg.
This car uses Chery’s latest Kunpeng Hybrid C-DM 6.0 system, which includes a 1.5T turbo petrol engine, 33.67 kWh battery and DHTPro transmission. According to the company, the FWD version has a 215hp motor that accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and its EV range goes up to 260 km. The AWD version gets 476hp combined front and rear, which makes this car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Its EV range is 200 km.

Talking about the range, the FWD variant gives a total hybrid range of up to 2000 km and the AWD variant up to 1600 km. Chery has also stated that 30% to 80% battery gets charged in just 14.5 minutes. The car is also very economical in terms of fuel efficiency – 3.65L/100 km in FWD and 4.8L/100 km in AWD.
Talking about the cabin, the Fulwin A9L gets leather + suede finishing, wood grain dash, and dual floating screen setup. According to Chery, its smart cabin runs on the Lingxi 2.0 system, which is based on Snapdragon 8255 chip. The display includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen.
The list of internal features is long – features like AI voice assistant, Bluetooth, remote control, ambient lighting, electric seats, and 50W wireless charging are offered across all trims. According to Chery, all variants get 9 airbags as standard.
The sound system is also great depending on the trims – you can choose from 8, 12 or 23 speaker options. Also, the car has a boot space of 405 litres which makes it perfect for long journeys as well.
