Hyundai and Kia’s most popular SUVs, Creta and Seltos, are now all set to Launch in hybrid avatar. Both these vehicles will be launched in India in the next few years with a completely new powertrain and design.
What will be New in the Engine?
The engine options currently available in both these SUVs, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (115PS), 1.5L turbo petrol (160PS), and 1.5L turbo diesel (115-116PS) – will be retained in the new generation models as well. But hybrid technology will now be added to them.

Hyundai and Kia are going to electrify their old and trusted 1.5 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine. The same engine will also be used in the hybrid versions of Seltos and Creta. Apart from this, a new three-row SUV is also being made based on this powertrain, which will come in 2027.
Launch timeline and design updates
Kia Seltos Hybrid: It will debut internationally in the second half of 2025, while its launch in India can happen in early 2026. Its design will be inspired by the international model Kia Sportage and new features will also be added to the interior.

Hyundai Creta Hybrid: This will be Hyundai’s first hybrid vehicle in India and its entry will be in 2027, when its next-generation version is launched.
Which vehicles will it compete with?
These hybrid SUVs will compete directly with Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Renault Duster Hybrid. Apart from this, Nissan’s Duster based new SUV will also be included in this competition.
Price and Mileage
The hybrid variants will be priced higher than the regular petrol-diesel models, but in return better mileage is also expected. Although the company has not yet shared the official mileage data, hybrid technology is expected to give a big boost.
Hyundai’s Planning?
Hyundai has revealed its biggest plan ever for India, which will launch a total of 26 new models in the coming 5 financial years – 20 of which will be ICE and 6 EVs. And now hybrids will also be an important part of this lineup.
