Maruti Baleno & Ertiga Updated with 6 Airbags: Check New Prices

Maruti Suzuki has upgraded its two popular cars, Baleno and Ertiga, ahead of the government’s rule to make six airbags mandatory in all cars from October 1, 2025. The company has now made 6 airbags standard across all variants in both these models. Due to this, there has been a slight increase in prices as well.

Maruti Suzuki has given official information about this change in the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This safety update is being gradually implemented in the rest of the models of the Arena and Nexa lineup along with Baleno and Ertiga. The S-Presso is now the only model left in the Arena range in which 6 airbags are not standard.

Baleno will now come with 6 airbags in all variants. Apart from this, it will continue to get pre-existing features like ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts. However, there is no change in its design and engine.

The same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is available in Baleno, which generates 89 bhp power and 113 Nm torque. For transmission, the option of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT has been given. In the CNG version, this engine gives 76.5 bhp and 98.5 Nm torque.

What Updates did Ertiga get?

Ertiga also now comes with 6 airbags in all variants. Due to this update, its price has also increased marginally. Other features like ESC, hill hold assist, rear parking camera etc. will continue to be available as before.

Ertiga gets the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, which generates 102 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. It has the option of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. In the CNG version, the power decreases to 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque.

This upgrade by Maruti Suzuki shows their seriousness towards safety standards in all their models. In the coming weeks, other Nexa models can also get standard 6 airbags. Currently, models like Grand Vitara and Invicto already come with 6 airbags.
