Maruti Suzuki India Limited has taken another important step towards making its cars safer in the Indian market. The company has now added 6 airbags as a standard feature across all variants of its extremely popular compact SUV, the Fronx. The update has come into effect with immediate effect.
Along with this important safety upgrade, the company has also announced a marginal increase of 0.5 per cent in the prices of the Fronx. This decision is a part of Maruti’s larger drive to strengthen safety standards across its entire car lineup. Before the Fronx, cars like the XL6, Baleno and Ertiga were also recently given this safety update.

Now, the Fronx has also joined the list of Maruti models that come with 6 airbags as standard. This list already includes vehicles from both Arena and Nexa dealerships such as Ertiga, Baleno, Grand Vitara, Brezza, Jimny, Swift, Dzire, WagonR, Celerio, Alto K10, Eeco and Invicto.

This move of the company is also in line with the government’s goal of improving road safety. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had already announced that by October 2025, 6 airbags will be a mandatory feature in all new passenger vehicles. Due to this, all car manufacturers (OEMs) in India are making necessary changes in their vehicles.
Fronx is not only good in safety, but also in exports
Fronx is making waves not only in the Indian market but also internationally. Recently, Maruti Suzuki announced that Fronx has become the fastest vehicle in the country to cross the export mark of 1 lakh units. This SUV achieved this milestone within just 25 months of launch.
Let us tell you that Fronx is manufactured at the brand’s Gujarat-based factory and is exported to over 80 countries including Africa, Middle East, Latin America and Japan. During the financial year 2024-25, Maruti shipped over 69,000 units of Fronx abroad, making it the country’s most exported passenger vehicle during that period.
Apart from Fronx, the company’s most successful export models also include Jimny, Baleno, Swift and Dzire. During the same period, the company also achieved its highest ever annual export volume of over 3.3 lakh units, registering a growth of 17.5 per cent over the previous financial year. Launched in April 2023, Fronx has written a new success story in a short time.
