The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has crossed the historic 30 lakh unit sales mark with the Swift hatchback. The feat was achieved almost two decades after the launch of the Swift. Swift had completed sales of 10 lakh units in its first eight years, and the figure reached 20 lakh in the next five years. Just six years later, total Swift sales crossed 30 lakh units.
Maruti Suzuki first introduced Swift in the Indian market in May 2005. At that time it was a segment with very few options, but Swift changed it completely. This was followed by the second generation model in 2011, which focused on light weight and better handling. The third generation came in 2018, which focused on connectivity and technology. In 2024, the company launched the fourth generation of Swift, which features a new Z-Series engine and refreshed exterior design.
The new Swift is priced at ₹6.49 lakh and goes up to ₹9.64 lakh (ex-showroom). The exterior features smoked LED projector headlamps, gloss-black grille and flowing character lines on the sides. The interior features a flat-bottom steering wheel, asymmetric dial setup and a driver-centric layout.

Safety has been given priority in the car. It gets features like six airbags, rollover mitigation with electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking sensors. Safety features like three-point seat belts and seatbelt reminder are standard for all passengers. Maruti Suzuki is offering a standard warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh km on this model.
The Swift gets a 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 81.6 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Its dimensions come with 3,860 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,450 mm.
Swift is offered in nine colour options for customers, including both single-tone and dual-tone. It has attractive options like Sizzling Red, new Luster Blue, new Novel Orange, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof, Luster Blue with Midnight Black Roof and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black Roof.
