Amidst the growing popularity of SUVs in the Indian automobile market, there has been a noticeable decline in sedan sales. However, Honda has played masterstroke its popular sedan, the City. Today, Honda Cars India announced the launch of a new special edition of its City sedan in the domestic market, the City Sport, with an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹14.88 lakh. This new edition is specially for buyers who want a sportier and more attractive look for their City.
What’s New in This ‘Sport’ Edition?
The biggest highlight of the Honda City Sport edition is its cosmetic changes, which make it far more sporty than the regular model. There are no mechanical changes, but its look truly sets it apart. Honda says this is a limited edition, so if you’re thinking of getting one, you might need to act fast!
Design: Inside and Out, Everything’s Different!
From the outside, the first change you’ll notice is the wide chrome trim on the front, which has now been replaced with a glossy black strip. Along with this, the front grille has also been completely blacked out, giving it an aggressive look. The outside rear-view mirror housings now also have a dark finish, and there’s a small ‘Sport’ badge on the boot, complementing its styling. A slim black lip spoiler has also been added, giving it a subtle yet attractive distinction.

Inside the cabin, the changes are clear. The Honda City Sport Edition now features a fully black theme. The seat upholstery now boasts a full black finish, and the dashboard inserts are also black. Additionally, red contrast stitching is found on the multifunctional steering wheel, enhancing its sporty touch.
Engine and Performance: The Same Powerful Engine, a New Vibe!
The Honda City Sport grade uses the standard 1.5-liter four-cylinder VTEC petrol engine. This engine is capable of generating a maximum power output of 121 PS and a peak torque of 145 Nm. For transmission, it comes only with the CVT automatic unit, which is also available in the regular City. The Sport edition does not offer the option of a regular six-speed manual transmission.
Features and Color Options: A Blend of Technology and Style!
This special edition is available in attractive color options such as Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic. As for features, it comes with excellent amenities like grey-finished alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, the Honda Sensing suite (ADAS), paddle shifters, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
All in all, the Honda City Sport edition is a great option for customers who want a sportier look and exclusivity in their favorite sedan. Even though there are no mechanical changes, its cosmetic updates and limited availability make it a special offering.
