Tata Motors is preparing to bring an all-new SUV soon, which is currently codenamed Tata Scarlet. This SUV will be positioned between Nexon and Punch in the company’s sub-4 meter segment, but in terms of design and features, it is being prepared as a premium lifestyle SUV.

Launch timeline and platform
The official launch date of Tata Scarlet has not been revealed, but according to reports, it can be launched in the market by 2026 or 2027. This SUV can be based on the ATLAS platform like Tata’s Curvv, which is designed for vehicles ranging from 3.9 meters to 4.5 meters long.
Tata Scarlet Expected Engine options and EV version
Tata Scarlet can be launched with 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.2L TGDi engines, with manual and automatic gearbox options. Also, it is expected to get a new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will be first seen in Tata Sierra. Given Tata’s strategy, there is every possibility of an EV version of the Scarlet as well.

The Tata Scarlet will be a modern SUV that is expected to get many premium features, such as:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated front seats
- Powered driver seat
- Connected display system
- 360-degree camera
- Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)
Price and Competition
Tata is expected to launch the SUV at a price of around $10,482 – $16,306 (₹9 lakh to ₹14 lakh). It will be positioned to compete directly with lifestyle SUVs like the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. In terms of design, the SUV will be inspired by the Tata Sierra strategy.
The Scarlet will be introduced as a premium option in Tata’s SUV lineup, something similar to what Kia is doing with its Sonet and Syros. Apart from this, the company is working on several new products like the next-gen Nexon, Avinya EV, and the new Sierra by 2027.
