Tesla has finally stepped up preparations for its much-awaited entry into India. The company recently released its first teaser, ahead of the launch event in Mumbai on July 15. While the teaser doesn’t reveal any specific model, all signs point to the Tesla Model Y, and this will likely be the brand’s first offering in India.
The Tesla Model Y is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and a long-range battery. Its EPA-rated range is 526 kilometers, making it ideal for long drives. This SUV is also no less in terms of speed; it accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 200 km/h.
There will also be changes in the design this time. The new model has thin and sharp headlights at the front, making its look even more futuristic. Connected taillights will now be seen at the rear. There will also be a lot of variety in paint options, such as Pearl White, Stealth Gray, Deep Blue Metallic, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Diamond Black. Talking about the interior, customers will be able to choose from two options: all-black or all-white.

Tesla’s entry in India
Tesla’s entry in India has been in the news for a long time, especially due to the ongoing talks between the government and the company regarding import duty. But now the brand has decided that it will start as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) model.
According to a Bloomberg report, the actual price of the Model Y imported from China was around ₹ 27.69 lakh, out of which about ₹ 21 lakh was spent only on import duty. In such a situation, the Indian price of this car can be above ₹ 40 lakh.
First showroom in Mumbai
Tesla’s first dealership showroom will be opened at Jio World Drive in BKC, Mumbai. After this, the second showroom in Delhi is also likely to start by the end of this month. At present, the company’s entire focus is on strengthening its brand presence and giving customers a better understanding through experience centers.
