Tesla has finally launched its first electric SUV, the Model Y, in India, with an initial ex-showroom price of ₹59.89 lakh (around $7123). With this launch, the company has also opened India’s first Tesla showroom in Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
Variants
Tesla Model Y is offered in India in two rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants:
- The Standard RWD version has a 60 kWh battery, which gives a WLTP range of about 500 km on a single charge. It gets about 295 hp power from a single motor.
- The Long Range RWD version has a larger 75 kWh battery, which claims to give a range of 622 km.
Pricing
The Standard RWD is priced at ₹59.89 lakh (around $7123) (ex-showroom), and the on-road cost goes up to ₹61.07 lakh (around $7262). And The Long Range version is priced at ₹67.89 lakh (around $8074) and the on-road price is ₹69.15 lakh (around $8224).
Want Full-Self Driving? You’ll Have to Pay Another ₹6 Lakh
If customers want Tesla’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) technology, they’ll have to pay an additional ₹6 lakh (around $714) for it. Apart from this, the base model also includes an “administration and service fee” of ₹50,000 (around $595), which includes 18% GST.

Tesla has started bookings and has also announced the installation of superchargers in Mumbai and Delhi. Going forward, the company will also expand these charging networks to other parts of the country.
