Big News in the headlines, Toyota Hyryder Dominates Grand Vitara in May 2025 with 94% Growth. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially informed that the company has registered a total sale of 29,280 units in India in May 2025. This figure is 22 percent more than the 23,959 units recorded in the same month last year (May 2024). The company says that along with strong demand for major vehicles like Innova and Fortuner, models prepared through badge engineering (such as Urban Cruiser Hyrider) have contributed significantly to this growth.

Toyota also said that the Innova series was in the highest demand in May 2025, but the model that showed the highest growth is the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. According to the company, the sale of Hyrider stood at 7,573 units in May 2025, while its sales were 3,906 units in May 2024. In this way, it has seen an annual growth of 94%. Compared to April 2025, the sales of this SUV have jumped by 63%.

According to Toyota, the recent feature updates are also a major reason behind this growth. The company said in its statement that now six airbags have been included as standard in all variants of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Also, some engineering improvements have also been made in the structure of the SUV to further strengthen the safety of passengers in case of an accident.

Toyota further informed that Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) has now been added to its automatic variants, and a new 6-speed automatic transmission has now been made available in the all-wheel drive version instead of the earlier 5-speed manual gearbox.

Apart from this, premium features like 8-way power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, and manually operated sunshades on the rear doors have also been provided in the top variants of the Hyryder. The company claims that it now includes features like updated speedo design, ambient lighting, air quality index display, LED reading lights, and Type-C fast charging ports.

On the other hand, the position of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has proved to be weak this month. According to the data released by the company, Grand Vitara sales in May 2025 were only 5,197 units, while 9,736 units were sold in the same month last year. That is, a decline of 47%. Apart from this, if compared to April 2025, there has been a decrease of 27%.

It is worth noting that both Hyryder and Grand Vitara are vehicles manufactured under the partnership of Maruti-Toyota and use the same technology, platform and engine. Nevertheless, the recent updates by Toyota and the aggressive marketing of the company have put Hyryder ahead in this race for the time being.

This entire update from Toyota has come through their May 2025 sales report, while Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed the fall in sales of Grand Vitara in their official statement.
