Upcoming EVs in India: The electric vehicle market in India is now gaining momentum rapidly, and in the coming months, big companies like Maruti Suzuki, MG and Kia are going to launch their new electric cars in Indian Market. The second half of 2025 is going to be very exciting for the EV segment, as many much-awaited models are going to be launched in the Indian market. Most of these vehicles have already been showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, but now it is their turn to go on sale.

1. Maruti’s First Electric SUV – e-Vitara

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car was in the news for a long time, and now finally the wait is going to end in September 2025. This new EV, which will be named e-Vitara, is being manufactured at the company’s Gujarat plant and will also be exported to many international markets including Japan. This electric SUV will get premium features like 18-inch alloy wheels, 10-way power adjustable seat for the driver, rear sliding and reclining seats, Level 2 ADAS and 7 airbags. It will be Launch with two battery options 49 kWh and 61 kWh of which the larger battery pack is capable of delivering a range of 500+ km on a single charge.

2. MG’s luxury MPV – M9

MG has already started pre-booking for its new premium MPV M9, with a token amount of ₹ 51,000. This car is being specially introduced as ‘The Presidential Limousine’, which will be full of premium features. It will have features like 16-way adjustable presidential seats, eight types of massage functions, heating and ventilation. Apart from this, features like dual yacht-style sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, 12-speaker sound system and 3-zone climate control will also be included in it. It will be a three-row 7-seater MPV, which will be sold from the MG Select network along with Cyberster.

Tata’s iconic SUV Sierra is returning once again but this time as an EV. After a long break of 20 years, this SUV will come in electric avatar in October 2025. At the same time, the ICE version will be launched in early 2026. Sierra EV will get both 5-seater and 4-seater versions. Its battery will be the same as that of Harrier EV 65 kWh and 75 kWh and it will be built on Tata’s new Gen 2 Acti.ev platform. It is estimated that it will run more than 500 kilometers on full charge.

Till now Kia has only sold high-end electric vehicles like EV6 and EV9 in India, but now the company is going to introduce Carens Clavis EV for the general customers for the first time. It will also be the country’s first 7-seater electric car, as currently all EV models are available only in 5-seater configurations. Its design and features will be similar to the recently launched ICE version. It is expected to get 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh batteries like the Hyundai Creta EV, which can have a range of up to 390 km and 473 km respectively.

MG has already made a good start with EVs like Comet and Windsor, but now it is entering the premium segment with Cyberster. It will be a two-door convertible electric car that will be sold exclusively from MG Select showrooms. It will be given a 77 kWh slim battery that produces 505 bhp of power and 725 Nm of torque. This car reaches the speed of 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds – that is, this car will be very powerful in terms of performance. Its booking has started and delivery will start from August 2025.
