Toyota has already showcased its much-awaited electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser EV, in Indonesia in a production version for the first time. Its launch in India is expected by the end of this year and with this Toyota is going to make its entry in the Indian EV market.

Battery And Powertrain 0ptions
The Urban Cruiser EV will be offered with two battery variants:
- 49 kWh battery: Range of around 300 km, with FWD layout, expected to get 142 bhp power and 189 Nm torque.
- 61 kWh battery: Range up to 400 km, 172 bhp and 189 Nm in FWD and 181 bhp and 300 Nm torque in AWD variant.
In terms of driving, customers will get both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options, which makes this SUV more premium in the segment.
Design and Exterior
The Urban Cruiser EV has a very attractive front look, sleek swept-back headlights, eyebrow-shaped LED elements, large air intakes, and clean fascia give it a distinctive look.

From the side and rear, the design is similar to the Maruti e-Vitara, which Toyota has developed in partnership with Suzuki. The charging point is also on the front fender, just like its Maruti sister car.

Manufacturing and Partnership
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, and is part of platform-sharing with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Both companies will offer their models with different styling and features, but the base engineering will be shared.
When is it Coming to India?
After its international debut, the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of the year. It will compete directly with popular electric SUVs like Tata Nexon EV, Maruti e-Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric.
