Xiaomi is no longer limited to smartphones, now the company is going to launch the first SUV model Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV under its electric vehicle unit. This much-awaited SUV will be officially launched on June 26 at 7:00 PM, The Xiaomi will also introduce its next foldable phone MIX Flip 2 and Pad 7S Pro tablet.
Xiaomi first showcased this SUV on May 22 and initially said that it would be launched in July. However, the company’s CEO Lei Jun has now confirmed that it will be launched by the end of June.

YU7 has received tremendous response from the users even before its launch. According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the pre-order inquiries of this SUV have been three times more than that of SU7. SU7 is Xiaomi’s first sedan, which was launched on March 28, 2024 and was priced at RMB 215,900 (about ₹24.8 lakh / ~$29,800 USD).

The actual price of the YU7 will be finalized a day or two before the launch, but CEO Lei Jun has made it clear that it will not be just RMB 20,000 (~₹2.3 lakh / ~$2,760 USD) more than the SU7, nor is it based on rumors like RMB 235,900 (~₹27.1 lakh / ~$32,600 USD).
Interestingly, the delivery figures of the SU7 are also very strong, 28,000 units were delivered in May alone, and SU7 deliveries have remained above 20,000 for the 8th consecutive month.
According to information given in Xiaomi’s EV App, those who booked the SU7 are still facing a waiting period of up to 51 weeks, which shows its demand.

The YU7 is being considered a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. With its launch, Xiaomi is preparing to strengthen its Presence in the EV market.
Additionally, the company will also unveil a special device at the June 26 launch event, which is described as a “next-generation personal smart device”. This was revealed by Lei Jun himself on Weibo.
Overall, Xiaomi is now ready to make its mark not just as a mobile brand, but also in the EV space, and the YU7 is its next big step.
