Xpeng launched its new mid-size SUV, the G7, in China, which received over 10,000 bookings within 9 minutes of launch. A token amount of ¥5,000 (₹58,000 / $690) was set for bookings. The starting price has been set at under ¥200,000 (₹23.3 lakh / $27,600), which is much lower than the previously announced ¥235,800 (₹27.5 lakh / $32,500).
The G7 is powered by a 218 kW rear-wheel drive motor that can propel the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. It gets two battery options, a 68.5 kWh battery that offers a CLTC range of 602 km, and an 80.8 kWh battery that offers a range of 702 km. Both variants support an 800V charging platform and 5C charging rate.

Talking about the AI system, the base variant has two Nvidia Drive Orin chips with a total processing power of 508 TOPS. The Ultra variant gets three Turing AI chips developed in-house by Xpeng with a total computing power of 2,250 TOPS. Two chips are for driving assistance and one for cockpit control. In comparison, Xiaomi YU7 has ADAS chips of 700 TOPS and Tesla Model Y has 720 TOPS.
For display, the G7 has an 87-inch AR-HUD system developed by Huawei, which replaces the traditional instrument cluster and supports features like AR navigation, intersection guidance, and dynamic lane change. The dimensions of the car are 4892mm x 1925mm x 1655mm and the wheelbase is 2,890mm. It is positioned between the G6 and G9.

The G7 has been launched in three variants in China, 602 Max (68.5 kWh, 602 km range, priced at ¥195,800 / ₹22.8 lakh / $27,000), 702 Max (80.8 kWh, 702 km range, ¥205,800 / ₹24 lakh / $28,400) and Ultra (80.8 kWh, 702 km range, 2,250 TOPS, ¥225,800 / ₹26.3 lakh / $31,100).
The SUV is ¥67,700 (₹7.9 lakh / $9,300) cheaper than the base variant of the Tesla Model Y and ¥57,700 (₹6.7 lakh / $7,900) cheaper than the Xiaomi YU7. The Xiaomi YU7, which was launched on June 27, garnered 2 lakh bookings within 3 minutes of its launch.
Xpeng delivered 34,611 units in June 2025, a growth of 224% year-on-year. In the first half, the company delivered a total of 197,189 vehicles, up 279% from last year and more than 50% of the company’s annual target. These figures reflect Xpeng’s rapidly growing market hold.
